I honestly cannot thank Oakmont of Whittier enough. My grandpa moved in not too long ago, and the change in him has been amazing. He used to be very quiet and mostly kept to himself, but this place has truly brought him out of his shell. The staff here is incredible. They are patient, caring, and treat every resident like family. They have gently encouraged him to join in on activities, and now he is actually excited to participate. He has been going to the morning exercise classes, art sessions, and even the wine and cheese socials. He loves the movie nights and scenic drives too, things we never imagined he would do again. The community is beautiful, spotless, and full of warmth. What really stands out is the energy here because everyone seems happy and engaged. Seeing my grandpa laughing, staying active, and making friends again means the world to our family. Oakmont of Whittier has truly given him a new spark, and for that we are forever grateful. 🥰

I just love how amazing the inside and the courtyard is looking for Oakmont and I think my grandma Margaret is going to love living here to begin her next chapter. I will be planning on visiting with my grandma on Wednesdays when I'm free. Of course, I like to call her Nanny Banani. Thank you for the tour, Debra!

Our family had a very troubling experience with Oakmont of Whittier Memory care. I would not recommend this memory care facility to any family looking for true memory care that is safe, honest and provides compassionate care. Our experience involved theft, lack of proper care , and no meaningful accountability. When supplies went missing we were told that our loved one was frequently caught playing with the protective underwear and they had to throw them away that was 200 undergarments within three weeks. We were taken aback by this statement because they are the only ones with the keys to the locked closet within the room where the toiletry items were kept. What was especially disturbing was the cost. Families are charged enormous amounts of money, yet there are no real guardrails on cost, quality of care and paying qualified staff a decent wage. It's a shame that this industry lacks stricter oversight. The state allows this facility to have 29 memory care residents with only two care providers. We were told there were three care givers at night but that was a total lie. They were always short staffed in fact this facility was not equipped to care for residents beyond the very earliest stages of memory loss. They just capitalize on that diagnosis because they are owned by a corporation. They used an assessment of points tool to determine my loved ones care needs, in many cases this tool is used to justify increasing cost beyond the cost of the room. Yet the actual care provided did not reflect that assessment. Our loved had the predictable symptoms of memory loss, which is the very reason a family often seeks care. Families think carefully before placing a loved one here with mild to moderate memory loss. This facility only wants docile residents. Works well in most cases for those who need assisted living. They pretend that its memory care but for those who don't exhibit the symptoms that comes with memory loss. They give you a so called assessment but its really a way to price gauge you and line their pockets while trying to make you believe your loved needs a certain level care that they will never receive. Its a shame that this industry lacks oversight and has no limitations on the amount of rent they charge a resident. Do not assume that the beauty and the price reflects the quality of care, in our experience it did not

The community at Oakmont of Whittier is truly wonderful. I recently went in to visit a family member and was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and welcoming it is. My aunt, who is an avid reader, absolutely loves participating in the book club and has really found her place here. She had a few particular requests when moving in, including bringing along her cat and the Oakmont team went above and beyond to accommodate her. The dining room is elegant and inviting, and we always enjoy a delicious lunch with my aunt here. On days when our whole family is able to visit, we sometimes go to the many restaurant options nearby, all within walking distance. Oakmont has given our aunt a comfortable, engaging environment where she’s happy and cared for and that brings us such peace of mind as a family.
