Merrill Gardens at West Covina

My grandmother has been a resident here for a few years and my family has been very happy with the decision. Knowing that she is safe and cared for really gives us peace of mind. Merrill Gardens has a really great staff; everyone I’ve encountered is friendly and attentive. We hope she stays here for a long time!

Our mom was reluctant to go into Senior Living. But after being in her own home and somewhat isolated, she really started to enjoy the friendships and camaraderie at Merrill Gardens. We soon knew she had picked a good one. Actually, a fellow Greek who was a resident wholeheartedly recommended it. This woman had been at a more expensive place where the food (and the vibe!) wasn't nearly as good. The spaces are modern and attractive, and the hallways and apartments are very nice, with high ceilings and plenty of windows and light. As her daughter, I ate there once in awhile. It was always good, and our mom could get food between 7am - 7pm, such a nice luxury. She enjoyed the bingo, arts & crafts, special guests and music, and local outings. She felt very safe there, loved the sweet staff, and felt like it was home. She recently passed, but spent 3+ solid years there. The staff, starting with Director Sherry, always had time for mom and her family and had a wonderful balance of protective and caring over the residents, but not micro-managing or heavy-handed with them. I strongly recommend Merrill Gardens. I hope they have room for me in about 20 years!

My Father Bill Sr. moved into Merrill Gardens over 2 1/2 years ago. Although a bit reluctant at first, he's grown to love it, has made many new friends, not only with Residents but also with the caring Staff. They have all become like family to him. Activities Director Nicole B. does an excellent job of bringing out the individual talents of the Residents, and boy-there are many! I would highly recommend Merrill Gardens as a place to call home.

After two months at MG West Covina, my mother seems to be slowly settling in to her new normal. And while the move process was very stressful on us both, now that she has arrived, all seems to be going well. Over the last couple of weeks, my mother has told me that she has tested out several activities, that the staff have generally been welcoming, and that many of the residents have also gone out of their way to be welcoming. Moving to Merrill Gardens has opened up new possibilities for my mother - for new friends, for improved safety, and more. So the details of the future remain a mystery, but the overall shape of it seems much more hopeful. I appreciate all that the staff at MG West Covina have done for us both.
