Lantern Hill

My mother-in-law has been at Lantern Hill for six years. She resided in the Independent Living section for the first four years. The Independent Living facility is wonderful. The units are beautiful, the restaurants have good food, there are many engaging activities, the facility and grounds are well maintained, and the residents are warm and friendly. Due to vision issues my mother-in-law moved to the Assisted Living section eighteen months ago. The Assisted Living section has proven to be a major disappointment. My mother-in-law requires minimal assistance- medication administration, someone to lay out her clothes and do her laundry (she can dress herself), prompting to go to the dining room when it is meal-time (she can't see to read the clock and know what time it is), and assistance turning on the shower (she can bathe, wash, and toilet herself). On many, many occasions when we visit, she is still in her pajamas in the afternoon, her bed is unmade, waste baskets in her room are overflowing, dirty clothes are strewn all over and shoved back in her closet, and no one has come to tell her it is meal-time so she has not eaten. At least once a week I pick up her dirty clothes, straighten out her closet, wipe down her sink, and bring home clothing to be washed so she can be presentable for mass each Sunday. We have complained over and over again about these conditions and her simple needs- pick up and wash her dirty clothes, give her clean ones so she can dress herself, and remind her when it is meal-time. Our complaints are met with polite lip service and no action. The assisted living care overall is substandard (showering twice a week and housekeeping once a week) for the high cost. The floor consistently has a terrible odor. My advice is to stay clear of the Assisted Living at Lantern Hill. If the time comes that you need help, hire an aide or look elsewhere.

Beware, Dr. Susan Frankel apparently, left Summit Health (aka Summit Medical Group) about three years ago for Lantern Hill. Our family was called by Summit Health the same day of our family member’s appointment and advised appointment is canceled. Dr. No longer there, and of course no explanation. They have rights but apparently, appears the patient does not. No letter, no notification doctor leaving was the practice. Ethics??? And my mom told me her friend explored some facilities in the area, Lantern Hill was one and she was advised she did NOT have LANTERN HILL MONEY. How unfortunate, unprofessional, rude and inappropriate. These negative reviews apparently, are not surprising from individuals sharing their experiences with/about Lantern Hill.

Employees for this company are inexperienced, unorganized and unfit for any food service position. Tried inviting me for a third interview, don't bother wasting time and resources. Food here is pedestrian and lacks creativity and imagination.

If I could give Zero stars I would, our parents have been deceased for a decade however every few weeks we get to read their names on yet another Marketing mailer from Lantern Hill. We haved called, sent the information back and made dozens of attempts to stop the marketing. Thanks again for reminding us around each holiday that they are not here to spend time with the rest of the family.
