Lakewood Reserve Senior Living

I recently toured this facility while looking into options for my dad, and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice everything was. The facility was clean, welcoming, and had a very comfortable atmosphere. The staff were friendly and professional, and everyone I spoke with seemed genuinely caring toward the residents. I really liked the overall environment. It felt less like a typical nursing home and more like a place where someone could actually feel comfortable calling home. There were plenty of activities and opportunities for residents to socialize, which I think would be really important for my dad. The dining experience was also very nice. I had dinner while I was there, and the food was actually really good. The chef clearly puts effort into making meals that are enjoyable, and I was impressed with the quality. As far as my dad goes… I think he would actually be pretty comfortable here. Although I’m not entirely sure the facility is prepared for his personality, opinions, and extremely detailed complaints about things that absolutely do not need to be complained about. But honestly, after touring the facility, I would feel comfortable considering it for him. The staff were kind, the environment was pleasant, and it was obvious that the residents were being cared for.

To say one positive thing about this place, I would love to thank Sam in the dining hall, who is very sweet and always treats my mother with respect. She loves him and always enjoys talking to him. Now for everything else. Please, for your own sake, sort by most recent reviews and take note of the others who say this place has gone downhill, quickly, over the last two months or so. The elevator has been down for over a month with no sense of urgency to repair it, despite their seniors obviously needing it. It is very expensive to live here and I've often felt like she wasn't getting enough for what she paid. I chose this place because it advertised significant resident support, and I really believed Lakewood Reserve could support me during a difficult transition in my mother's and my own life. However, they have only made it more difficult. Recently I received an enormous bill more than what her rent and care should conceivably be. After calling and attempting to sort this out, Lakewood Reserve was unable to provide an itemized bill for what they were charging me. Their level of care simply does not match what is advertised. For example, if you call and ask they have full shower assistance. However, to this day, no employees have showered my mother. When asked, they consistently say they will not shower her, so I have to come over and shower her myself, despite paying for the additional support. So I've removed this service, but I will never get the money back that I paid for the service they said they offered and then refused to carry out. Another time I went to take my mother out to lunch. Before I left, I wanted to ask a support staff a question about her medication refill/an upcoming doctor appointment. Since I could not find staff around, I pressed her life alert tag, and we ended up waiting 30 minutes before anyone came. That is simply outrageous, I can only imagine what would have happened if she was actually having an emergency. If you're looking for assistance in your assisted living, or care in your memory care, I'd look elsewhere. Very disappointed.

I was so pleased with the care and support my mom recived while at Lakewood Reserve. Across the board, I found the staff to be responsive and helpful and the staff always treated my mom with both kindness and respect. A special shoutout to Juan, the driver who provided transportation services for residents, who often went above and beyond to try to help my mom get to appointments. Thank you.

The place has gone down tremendously in the past month or so. Elevators are always down, the chef is incredibly rude and the executive director lets him get away with it, constantly changing staff, first floor bathroom is always filthy, since the last activity Director left residents are left asking to fake pose for pictures to seem like they’re active, pointless things to do and they are bored, this place is just not what it used to be. Sara could care less and doesn’t help with any concerns. So many good staff that has left because of this.
