Kalama Heights

When we first began looking for an independent living community for our parents here on Maui, we wondered if we'd ever find a place that truly felt like home. Kalama Heights has exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment you arrive, the stunning entrance waterfall welcomes you with a sense of peace and beauty that sets the tone for everything that follows. The grounds are amazing, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a Kihei resort than a care facility. But it's the authentic island spirit woven throughout the community that makes Kalama Heights truly special. The staff embody the genuine aloha spirit in everything they do. Their warmth and friendliness aren't just professional courtesy—they genuinely care for each resident as family. This caring approach extends to every aspect of life at Kalama Heights, from the exceptional dining experiences to the thoughtful daily interactions that make our parents feel valued and at home. What has been most remarkable is watching our parents thrive in ways we never imagined possible. The combination of the onsite physical therapy facility and the dedicated third-party care team has given them the support they need to maintain their independence far longer than we ever dreamed. They're not just surviving—they're flourishing. Their beautiful apartment has become their sanctuary, and they spend countless hours on their lanai, taking in the island breezes and feeling grateful for this chapter of their lives. As their children, seeing them so content and well-cared for brings us immeasurable peace of mind. Kalama Heights isn't just where our parents live—it's where they've found a community, maintained their dignity, and continue to enjoy life to the fullest. We couldn't have asked for anything more perfect for them.

I do not live at KH. A person living there complained to me that they are charging $5 extra to put their meals in a take out box. He urged me to write a review. This person feels it presents a medical risk due to Covid to dine in, but also does not want to pay the $5 for take out box fee. I have written this review as requested.

Such a kind & caring staff, great location, beautiful building. There is a pool, the exercise facility can't be topped, they have physical therapists on staff, it's a really amazing community.

Based on observation of their facilities and amenities, it's a nice and more affordable? (~4k/mo) senior living apartment compared to others that my client and his family visited. Complete with dining room or in-room tray service. 3 floors with swimming pool, pool table, beauty shop, library, TV room, private dining area overlooking the main dining room and a variety of programs to join throughout the week. There's an in-house physical therapy service on the ground floor same level as the garden. It's set up like a hotel with an atrium in the center. The toilets are low, not senior friendly. The room my client got has a kitchenette, living room area, bedroom, balcony, bathroom with tub shower. The staff were friendly and the building fairly clean.
