It doesn't get any better than Independence Village. My mother came to for a respite visit. She has been treated like a Queen. The staff catered to her every need. She said it's like a family and everyone gets along very well. She had to go to the hospital and they brought her flowers. They have an ambassador program and they came to visit her, take her to lunch, and share the great services Independence Village offers.

Independence Village of Waukee is truly a wonderful place for seniors to call home. From the moment you walk in, you can feel how welcoming and caring the community is. The leadership team is absolutely amazing—attentive, compassionate, and genuinely invested in the well-being of residents and their families. The atmosphere is positive, supportive, and full of life. It’s comforting to know that residents are surrounded by people who truly care.

I recently had a school project where I presented oral care education to the staff at this assisted living facility, and I had such a great experience. They were incredibly receptive from the start and immediately welcomed the opportunity to have me come in. The staff was very friendly, engaged, and genuinely interested in learning how to better care for their residents’ oral health. It was clear that they truly care about the people they serve and go above and beyond to support their overall well-being, including oral care. From what I observed, they do a wonderful job making sure their residents are well cared for in every aspect. I would absolutely recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where residents are treated with kindness and attention.
