Harrogate

About 10 months ago, I was asked by staff to review Harrogate, and I did, based upon the experience in the Independent Living wing, for my parents. Unfortunately, subsequent to that review my mother suffered an injury that required a long stay in the Health Center ( Nursing) wing. I can only say that it was not a good experience. While the nurses and staff are generally very nice, there were numerous issues: 1) A lack of assistance to my legally blind mother with regard to meal services: NO assistance completing the menu requests and NO assistance when the wrong food was delivered and 2) NO response to numerous complaints about this issue. 3) Despite signs stating Family does Laundry, multiple items of clothing were sent to the laundry, requiring multiple and repeated requests for location of said items. Several were never recovered. 4) The most egregious issue was the total disregard and lack of attention given to my mother by HER doctor, the Medical Director of the Health Center. My attempts to speak with him regarding my mother's care were ignored repeatedly. We ended up personally arranging for outside medical appointments to address her needs, and transporting her there ourselves. Overall, given the tone and atmosphere in the Independent Living Wing, the Health Center is a major disappointment and I would not recommend it if other options are available. Overall,

I transferred my 91y/o to Harrogate sub acute health center after removing him from another sub par subacute facility. The care he received was outstanding from all staff( nursing, rehab, aides, housekeeping; social work, activities director and staff and dining services). The facility was clean and highly sanitized. The staff was attentive to my father’s needs and would go out of their way to accommodate any requests. They are true professionals and provide exceptional care. The food was also well prepared and tasty. I highly recommend this facility without question.

My goodness ~ Harrogate Senior Living of Lakewood, NJ, USA. I must admit scary hospital situation with my Mom. Then on to rehab - oh geeze. ** We selected Harrogate and what a fantastic place and organization and people. Lisa, Mike, Kelly, Jillian and the entire professional team - my mom received white glove service and attention; our family was at ease and welcome to visit with any and all questions asked. ** Would I recommend Harrogate for your loved one? My mother required extensive rehabilitation after a fall. Harrogate Medical Center-Skilled Nursing Facility provided exceptional and compassionate care during Mom's lengthy stay. She improved significantly with excellent Physical and Occupational Therapy available on-site. Skilled nursing services also expertly managed multiple chronic medical conditions. Equally important, kindness and empathy were expressed by directors/administrators, all members of the care team and support staff. And the food is very, very good! 10 stars out of 10.
