Respite

Assisted Living

A living option for seniors or individuals who require assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, or medication management while maintaining a level of independence. Assisted living facilities offer personalized care plans and social activities that promote quality of life for their residents.

Independent Living

Designed to help older adults who want to maintain an active and independent lifestyle, these communities offer services and amenities that cater to residents’ needs, while encouraging a sense of community and freedom from the responsibilities of owning a home.

Life Plan/CCRCs

Also referred to as Life Plan Communities, these communities offer a comprehensive continuum of care for residents. CCRCs offer multiple levels of care, allowing seniors to transition between independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care as their needs change throughout their aging journey.

Respite Care

Respite care is short-term or temporary care. Respite care can be provided in adult day centers, in private homes via home health agencies and in senior living communities, most often assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.

Skilled Nursing

Skilled nursing and nursing homes are residential facilities that offer medical care and support for individuals that require a higher level of medical attention and assistance. These are staffed by licensed healthcare providers and offer a range of services to ensure the well-being and comfort of residents.

Home Care

Home care typically offers nonclinical support for Activities of Daily Living (ADL) like bathing and dressing, as well as Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) such as transportation, meal preparation, and medication reminders, all provided in the comfort of one’s home.

I have lived independently at Fort Washington Estates in a one bedroom apartment since October of 2022. My apartment is lovely and very comfortable. Fort Washington Estates has a wonderful housekeeping staff who keep it very clean. I find the food to be top notch and the grounds are well kept and beautiful. We have an engaging and helpful staff. The medical personnel respond quickly with compassion always making you feel cared for. What I like best about living at Fort Washington Estates is the social aspect. There are many daily activities such as game nights, weekly entertainment, fitness classes, and wellness activities. Moving into the community at Fort Washington Estates was one of the best decisions I have made at this time in my life. Please come and visit and see everything that Fort Washington Estates has to offer.

"Where loving kindness lives." This is the motto at Fort Washington Estates and it lives in every nook and cranny. From the servers (mostly High School students and a few returning college students) in the Dining Room to the maintenance folks ~kindness abounds! This is not a put on but a natural, loving outpouring of care and concern. I couldn't have found a better place. The activities that are offered here are incredible and are planned with great creativity. The opportunities are endless. It all starts at the top and the Directors are responsive and caring. Who could ask for more?! I highly recommend Fort Washington Estates as a perfect option for senior living.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Fort Washington Estates for three years, and our experience was mixed. On the positive side, her apartment was lovely, she enjoyed the meals, and many of the staff members were kind and caring. The chaplain, in particular, was a wonderful support to our family. However, there were serious concerns that affected our overall impression. One night, she fell and remained on the floor for seven hours because no one responded to her call bell—a deeply troubling incident. When we reached out for help, the administration often seemed indifferent and uncooperative. It wasn’t until we contacted the CEO of ACTs that we were able to get her scheduled for physical therapy. We also encountered resistance when she temporarily required a higher level of care. After her passing, the finance office declined to provide the information my wife needed for the inheritance tax, which led to us overpaying. While there were caring individuals at the facility, the lack of responsiveness from leadership and the mishandling of critical situations prevent me from rating it higher. I’m giving three stars primarily because of the kind staff and the quality of her living space.

My wife and I knew we wanted to retire to an Acts Community, it was just a matter of which one. Eventually, we chose Fort Washington Estates and now, almost four years later,we know that we made the right choice. We chose this particular community for a variety of reasons. Size. It is the smallest community, at full capacity it holds less than a hundred independent living residents. This allows us to know everyone who lives here. New residents quickly become part of the community. We can all fit into the dining room. Groups are small and personal. Everything is located within easy walking distance and indoors. Decor: The dining room with its mirrored wall and hanging chandeliers captivated us the first time we saw it. The lobby has a welcoming and homey feel. Staff: The staff members are welcoming and approachable. Food: Everyone has an opinion about the food. It is not what we cooked for ourselves at home, but 90% of it is delicious and we are given a large variety from which to choose. The culinary team sponsors special dinners to keep things interesting. We have residents from nearby Acts communities visit for dinner, a nice compliment for our kitchen. Medical: Our assisted living and full medical areas and always staffed 24/7. They respond quickly and we both feel safe and looked after. The one thing that drew us in the most is the friendly atmosphere we encounter day by day. It is not just a bunch of people living in apartments, but a community of residents who are friends, who help each other, and look after each other. Negatives – not unique to Fort Washington, storage space is at a premium. We have limited closet space and a small storage space downstairs. But best feature, on trash days, I open the door and place the trash in the hall. Done!
