Discovery Village Deerwood

Finding the right place for your parents is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make, and it can feel overwhelming. After exploring 7 different communities, we chose Discovery Village at Deerwood, and it has truly been one of the best decisions our family has made. Seeing my mom happy, thriving, and genuinely enjoying this season of life fills our hearts with gratitude. She starts many mornings with coffee in the dining room, chatting with friends she now considers family, before heading off to one of the daily activities she looks forward to—whether it’s a fitness class, a card game, or an art session where she’s rediscovered her love of painting. There’s always something going on, and she never feels like her days are empty or lonely. She has made wonderful friends, stays active, and has a beautiful home she is proud to call her own—warm, welcoming, and full of life. There’s no greater peace of mind than knowing she is safe, cared for, and surrounded by people who truly know her, notice her, and treat her with kindness. The food deserves special mention. Chef Ben prepares fresh, delicious meals every day, and you can taste the difference in every bite. My mom often tells us about the themed dinners, like Italian night or Sunday brunch, where residents gather, laugh, and linger over dessert and coffee. The aromas alone are comforting and inviting, and it truly feels like dining in a wonderful restaurant rather than a typical retirement community. Most importantly, it’s the people who make Discovery Village so special. The staff treats residents with genuine warmth, dignity, and compassion. You see it in the way they greet my mom by name each morning, the patience in their voices when someone needs a little extra help, and the thoughtful touches—like remembering her favorite seat or checking in when she misses an activity. It’s clear they don’t just do their jobs—they truly care, and that means everything. If you’re searching for an independent living community for someone you love, I can’t recommend Discovery Village at Deerwood highly enough. It has been such a blessing to our family, and we are deeply grateful to everyone there for making our mom feel so at home, so valued, and so genuinely happy.

While this is very nice establishment their priority is profit over people....dozens of residents are moving out because they have increased their rates by 10-25% in just one year. They take advantage of elderly knowing they are on a fixed income and would rather not move again. My mother has to leave because of the increase and the hassle to do so is so significant. I would never recommend someone living here. Money is more important than care for their residents. Stay away.

Once they suck you in with a teaser lease amount they will raise your rent each year...right now many people are being raised by 10-15% a year! They have a waiting list and know old people are on fixed incomes, so they take advantage of them. Really regret moving my mom he re. Profits comes before people here...

Good evening to each and everyone My name is Ken Turner I am a new resident in the community I have not got there yet but I signed up for this community this is truly have been such a great great community from Lori to the other young lady that with her and Kim they are very professional they know how to talk to people they'll make you feel right at home and you have not got there yet I recommend this community to anybody because I've been to other communities and I have not feel this much love and been treated with the utmost respect I want to let you all know first hand what I have experience by talking with them on yesterday now I'm happy that I pick this community I moved to this area because my late wife always want to move to Florida and I did what she wanted me to do That's all I have to say about it I want to thank them so much for being very professional and treating me with the utmost respect
