Exceptional Facility!!!! If you’re looking for a quality facility for assisted living or memory care, you will not find a better facility than Danbury! My dad has been living there for 2 years and this facility has exceeded my every expectation. The rooms are modern and very clean. The meals are fantastic with a large variety of meals served. Exceptional staff! Kim, Heidi and Casey, along with all the nurses and aides, deeply care and take every measure to make sure all needs are met, and then some!

I visited several places in the area before the hard decision of having to transition my parents to assisted living and nothing compared to the Danbury. It truly stood out as a "home away from home". From the apartment options, to the restaurant with fresh cooked meals and the activity options available, it was a no brainer. The people that work there are wonderful and they are all very involved in the residents lives. They are treated like extended family.

My parents have both resided at Danbury of Mt Vernon at different intervals. My mom was first and she was there in February of 2023 and passed March 1st 2023. Kim was a wonderful first impression. She was kind, informative and when things were sticky with the hospital she helped us navigate the paperwork. She helped reassure Dad and all of us that Mom would be well taken care of during her time here. The experience for my mom was wonderful. We signed on with Gentiva hospice and the care between the facility and hospice was amazing. She loved the fact that the facility allowed residents to have their pets. She insisted I buy dog bones and she handed them out to a few of the dogs that visited her every day. At the time of mom’s stay I couldn’t have been prouder of the love we were all shown. My Dad became a resident in December of 2023. The loss of my mom and his many non life threatening issues became a struggle for him to manage. Dad came in with a special diet that was very complicated. On Dec 23 he was released from the hospital and joined the Danbury family. We were relieved to get Dad into a nice facility where we felt he would be safe and cared for. Then between Dad’s depression, his beginning signs of dementia, and insecurities he found communicating with Danbury staff about his diet frustrating. It took a while, but I want to commend the efforts of all involved to help redesign a program that fit his special needs. Danbury of Mt Vernon is a wonderful place for my Dad. The in-house therapist really make his rehab easy to work with. The new chef Jolly has gone above our expectations to try and make Dad feel a part of the community. The housekeeping staff is friendly and easy to work with. We have a great relationship with the maintenance crew. The front desk receptionist is extremely helpful when we have questions. The nursing staff does well with answering my thousands of questions. I had a lot to learn when Dad became a full time resident. Navigating a senior living facility is a difficult experience when you have never been part of the process. I made mistakes and had the wrong ideas when we first got there, but I will say, that as I learned things and explained them to Dad, we both slowly began to adjust to the system. I still stumble in some situations but I believe that is only to be expected. The one complaint I have which applies to the whole medical community is a lack of communication. There is no single person you go to for answers and sometimes you spend your whole day navigating the system to find answers. Sometimes simple care instructions from one group to the next seems to take a while to be enacted on. I believe this is true in many institutions and is not singled out here. I have learned it takes an extreme amount of patience to navigate the system. In my opinion, there will always be kinks in the systems. It’s not whether they happen, more of when they happen and how are they dealt with. In my experience it was rough at first but I believe Dad also presented a new challenge. I am grateful we all managed to work through that challenge because Dad is now thriving. While I believe communication is a struggle at times, I will also say that I think it has improved greatly and that the problems are minor. I trust Danbury with Dad’s Care because he smiles more. He participates in Balloon Volleyball hosted by Casey, and he has made some new friends. He always has a silly story to share. For that alone I know my family is grateful. We definitely would recommend this facility to others.

I am a recently new resident at Danbury. I am so happy with my decision to come to Danbury. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond to help me and all the residents. The dining menus are varied and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend Danbury for anyone in need of assisted living.
