My loved one has been in Holly Cottage memory care for almost a year. My family has been very happy with the quality of care and my loved one has thoroughly enjoyed being there as well. The nursing staff is wonderful and they are very caring. The food is also good, smells great and the presentation is nice as well. There are activities, monthly birthday parties and special occasions events as well. Having full access to outdoor space has been great too. There are big rocking chairs on the porch, with ceiling fans and a large table/umbrella outside with a small planter garden and bird feeders make it an inviting but safe space so residents aren't cooped up inside all the time. We have had zero issues with the accounting staff either. There is a flat fee you can choose to pay so no payment "steps" are involved at all. I mean if your loved one needs memory care, their condition is sadly not going to get better. Hopefully the decline will be slow but we have seen some residents get worse quickly depending on their individual condition. Other residents have lived there happily for years. We hope and pray this is the situation with our family member. Also please be aware this is "assisted living" - not a hotel with full maid service. The house keepers will assist your loved one with whatever their needs are as stated in their individual plan of care. Do your research before placing your loved one anywhere and ask a lot of questions. It is your responsibility to make sure you communicate frequently with both the staff and your loved one too as their needs will change. We hope to be at the Cottages a very long time.

My family's recent experience with Country Cottages assisted living in Hoover, AL has been a nightmare. This was my first experience with caring for a loved one and I thought that we had found the perfect place for my father. I was wrong. We've had many problems. To begin with, our contract signing very was rushed, and was completed by an employee who I never saw again after that day. There were many things that were explained incorrectly or not at all. When we were recruited, there were lots of promises made. Haircuts, doctor's visits, and trips to the store for supplies are just a few of the services that we were told that my father would receive that never or very rarely happened. I would usually receive a very demanding phone call any time Dad needed anything. I was happy to do those things, but am still very confused about what we were told. Also not explained to me was the fact that Country Cottages reserves the right to raise their rates, as much as they would like, at any time, without notice. A few months ago my father's rates were raised by over $300.00 a month, less than 2 weeks before the payment was due. Certain members of the care staff and management began to lie to us and greatly exaggerate details about his health in order to raise their rates (ridiculous, over the top exaggerations). Eventually the director used this false information to force him to move out against his wishes. This situation has caused my family much hardship. I strongly recommend that you save your time, money, and sanity and avoid this place at all costs.

My mother in law has been a resident at Country Cottages for over 7 months. She loves it there. The staff is very attentive to her needs and treats her like family. The food is great, she has gained weight living there. I really appreciate the management too. They are always available to resolve any issues if we had any. I highly recommend this facility.

I wish I could give zero stars. I never leave bad reviews, but I don't want anyone to trust their loved ones with this place with its incompetent, uncaring, unresponsive, and downright rude staff. (Josh Patterson is the worst of them all.) The best thing we ever did was bring my father home so that he didn't have to spend his last days with these people who let him literally waste away in the span of two months ... and lied to us every day. "He's fine, he's eating, he's great!" Lies. I understand that the pandemic complicated things, but what happened to my dad was a travesty that should never have happened. Run in the opposite direction. Please.
