I’m so impressed with Care Suites Of Edina by Vivie (used to be Walker Methodist). I am a friend and POA for a new resident and every week I encounter another reason why I am grateful that he is at Vivie. The staff are professional and permanent, so they really get to know each resident’s needs and preferences. My friend is very particular about his clothing, and his aides are respectful of his individuality. The staff are supportive towards family. I’ve emailed several staff members with various questions, and in each case, I received a prompt and thorough response. The meals are actually delicious, and I enjoy eating with my friend. Vivie has a podiatrist, dentist, nurse practitioner, and other skilled care providers who come to the facility to provide care for residents if they choose, but, if a resident has an appointment outside of the facility, Vivie has a handicap accessible van available to transport both the resident and the family member to and from the appointment - at no cost to the resident! This has been a godsend for my friend who is unable to get in and out of a wheelchair or into a car comfortably. Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference, but at Vivie, it’s both the big and the small. From the beautiful flowers outside the main entrance, to the smiles and energy of the staff, to the residents who call Vivie home, it’s a community, and I’m so grateful my friend can be part of it.

One of my friends recently moved to this facility, and I was able to visit her recently. The building itself is beautiful and well appointed with comfortable chairs and couches and a very calming color palette. The staff I interacted with or observed all appeared to enjoy their jobs, were very caring, patient and respectful to the residents. When I asked about whether there was an oven for residents to use ( my friend and I have a pizza routine) , I was told that if we wanted something baked, she was sure that someone would be willing to bake it for us. It appears that there are many activities for the residents to be involved in should they choose to be. I was impressed with the ambience and care I witnessed during my first visit.

The staffing - staff to patient ratio is 1 staff to every 5 patients. That is a remarkable difference from other facilities. Most are 1 to 10. The decor is quite worn & is in need of refreshing. Right now, I care more about the staff ratio & quality of care. It’s more expensive than most others, but to me, it’s worth it.

My 86-year-old father, who has Parkinson’s, has been at Walker Methodist Care Suites for about three years. Not only is the care absolutely wonderful but he is truly happy there. He has a social life thanks to the amazing dining room and the many activities and outings they offer residents. The facility is clean and well cared for, comfortable and homey. The staff are all experienced, specially trained in Parkinson’s care, highly competent, and most of all truly caring. I visit daily. The staff have become like family and that is how they treat him and us. I cannot say enough about how much we appreciate this wonderful place.
