My grandmother lived at Brooksby for 11 years. From the age of 86-97. We experienced Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, where she spent her last year and a half. As her authorized representative, I was deeply involved in all matters throughout those 11yrs and can unequivocally state that I wouldn't have wanted her to spend her remaining years anywhere else. As with any matters of life, you need to advocate for your loved one, but the resources available at this community are unmatched. She had multiple falls over the years and trips to the ER (conveniently right down the street) but the staff was SO responsive and helpful during these times that I never worried for her care. My grandmother loved the fitness center, the Treasure Chest, playing pool, and going on long walks. She opted to take the shuttle daily to get around campus which came to her door every 30 minutes or so. We were told that once she received keys to her apartment, she would never have to leave the community despite any financial hardships and that was the peace of mind our family needed. The grounds are beautifully manicured, the activities and living options are plentiful, and certain staff will remain in my heart forever. Joy and her staff in Memory Care became a part of our family and showed up with compassion and love during my grandmother's most vulnerable days. If you are considering Brooksby Village for your retirement home, please know that it is the best gift you can give your loved ones AND yourself (peace of mind). And, if you are looking for a home for a loved one, know that this community has all of the resources you will need for them, and more!

This place is basically a luxury resort… for rats and mice. 🐀🐭 They roam around like they’re the real residents, while the rest of the people are just paying rent to be their roommates. Maintenance doesn’t seem to care — I guess they think “pest control” means giving the rats free room and board. If you’re into wildlife documentaries, you don’t need Netflix here — just turn on the kitchen light at night. WHAT A DISGRACE!!

As a resident for 4 years I offer What was were most important to me when I was looking for independent living 4 years ago and chose Brooksby. I was the youngest resident at 63 a single woman with advancing Parkinson’s, having been diagnosed for 18 years as I was looking for IL. My non-negotiables were: Not feeling claustrophonic inside the apartment or feeling trapped inside the building. I came here post COVID and had lost most of my stamina to walk. I could not live somewhere the outside walk path was just a loop around the buildin At Brooksby, I have felt very safe walking indoors out, day or night. The community is gated and every vehicle has to stop at.m the guard house and is registered prior to entry. Brooksby has a large, highly visible, well trained, security staff who patrol the campus in pairs in vehicles and on foot. They carry life-saving equipment in backpacks everywhere they go and all so act as EMT’s available 24/7 The landscaping.is lush, gorgeous and I can wask for 20 yards or 2 miles or more, outside on extremely well maintained walkways great for residence with Canes, walkers, Rollator’s or wheelchairs. There are several main buildings connected by Temperature controlled, sunny, glass corridors that enable you to walk Myles inside the building also while feeling like you’re outside the building.. On all the walkways come inside and out you’ll find people sitting on the benches and socializing. There are benches everywhere so that you can walk and rest walk and rest. Because I’m claustrophobic, my other non-negotiable was finding a unit with a balcony. I am in a two bedroom two bath unit with a balcony and it is huge. I have a huge open concept living room that has space for three areas, dining room area, the TV area and for me, in art area the balcony is big enough to entertain On and also to plant a potted garden. The overhang allows you to sit on the balcony in the pouring Rain And not get wet. I see the sunset from my balcony. It may be a long way to get the balcony unit, but for me it was worth it.

Just over a year at Brooksby, and we're absolutely loving it! I was the instigator, but Ann was won over by the idea that it's 'the best gift you can give your children.' Our apartment is perfect, the community is amazing, and the activities are so much fun. A huge shoutout to the Brooksby staff, especially the dining team, who make every meal a treat!
