Brookdale’s Shadowlake location is the best choice for my sweet Mom. With 5 buildings on a well kept campus, residents live near like-minded and similarly able neighbors. The food is as advertised, offering several choices of good food in ample portions. And Mom has 3 meals a day and never has to wash dishes again! I’m eternally happy about that. The apartments are well lit, with big bathrooms and wide hallways connect the common areas. Great facility for the price, great facility at any price. Most importantly, the staff are beautiful souls, mindful caregivers, accessible, patient and professional. It’s a joy and a relief to have an entire team of caregivers to help us care for our old ones.

When we first moved mom in staff was good. Soon after staff began to turn over very fast. Good people wouldn’t stay. When my mom was declining, and she was at her most vulnerable, she was stolen from her wedding ring was stolen amongst other things. Her decline went very much unnoticed and if I was not close I would not have known quickly enough. The Dr. was not paying attention and the new nurse was terrible. I don’t recommend.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE INTO BROOKDALE SHADOWLAKE...unless you want unprofessional, dishonest, and never ending increases of your care plan price!! Majority of the care staff do not care about their job and would rather be on their phones and have no clue how to professionally communicate, they are untrained and many do not show up to work or come in late,. Fees increase frequently with "assessments", management would rather push incidences under the rug or cover than properly address with staff. I have been told numerous times "if you don't come as much you won't see the issues." Activity calendar is an illusion of what "happens" with the weekends being the worse. 200% please do not put your loved on at Shadowlake .... there are much more amazing communities out there, even really close to Shadowlake!!! Don't fall for the illusion that they present you when you tour! This location is OVERPRICED for the "care" you actually receive.
