Bickford of Suffolk

My mother-in-law moved into Assisted Living at Bickford of Suffolk a number of months ago. We have been delighted with her care, the high level of engagement of the staff with the residents, and the number of activities to keep her engaged. The facility is beautiful, she loves the food, and has made new friends. We have found the staff to be very communicative when there are issues, and it is evident that they truly care about what they are doing. Kudos Bickford!

My mom moved into Bickford at the end of January and we are so happy she has a beautiful and safe place to live. The staff treat her like family and she has also made new friends among the residents. She loves the food and enjoys so many activities that they offer as well as concerts that they have. It feels like home and family here and it gives us reassurance that my mom is loved and safe. My first experience at Bickford of Suffolk was years ago when I visited a church friend. Porch furniture and potted plants invited me into a lovely home. The living room was filled with smells of dinner and comfortable furniture around the fireplace where residents participated in an activity. I was an unexpected visitor, who was welcomed by smiling staff. My friend was comfortable, relaxed and excited to see me. I tucked these memories away for the time I or a loved one might need assisted living. A year ago, Bickford came to mine when my Mom was in need. The home still looks new and the furniture and decor fresh and clean. My Mom is happy, social, and thriving with a purposeful life. I believe her success is the result of pleasant surroundings, stimulation provided by an active staff and appropriately planned activities. She enjoys her apartment on the courtyard and having her quiet time. Using her walker she takes strolls around the square visiting with residents. She loves going to the church services and Bible studies. Special events involving children and young adults providing music and entertainment are fun times for her. Breakfast is her favorite meal. I, too, enjoy being at Bickford and coming and going as I please, visiting Mom about three times a week, sometimes with grandson in tow. He is always excited to go to Granny's house. We know many of the residents and staff by their first name. Coordination staff Amber, Corrina, Jackie, Kendra, and Tony always are smiling and good problem solvers. I see the caregivers working for my Mom and other residents to make meals, laundry, cleaning, dressing, and bathing an interactive and pleasant time. My family and I have get-togethers at Bickford and feel at home. My Mom's sister visited from out of state and spent the night. They had no complaints and had a great time together making new memories. I feel strongly that the staff are willing to do what it takes to get my Mom to smile, be social and to be her best. What I see helps me know that they are providing what my Mom needs and are doing a job that I could not do alone. Thank you to all who have made Bickford my Mom's home.
