Care

Assisted Living

A living option for seniors or individuals who require assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, or medication management while maintaining a level of independence. Assisted living facilities offer personalized care plans and social activities that promote quality of life for their residents.

Respite Care

Respite care is short-term or temporary care. Respite care can be provided in adult day centers, in private homes via home health agencies and in senior living communities, most often assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.

My Mom went into Bickford Cottage of Moline after a fall three years ago. At that time she was determined a level 4 but as a few months passed she improved and was at a Level 1. Shortly after, I was told they no longer had a level 1 and the rate went up. Mom is independent and all they basically did for her were make her meals. I did laundry, showers and housekeeping. Mom liked the caregivers and at 96 years old, change is a little difficult so she stayed there. I had expressed concerns about the rate with Jenny, the director, but no help there. I decided to check into other facilities and when looking on-line saw Bickford's starting rate at around $4,000 a month. We were paying $5,500 a month for the smallest room and basically no assistance. I brought this to Jenny's attention and she said she would check on it. No response until we found another place for Mom at $2,200 a month, then the next day Jenny informs me Bickford would match the price! Seems we had been WAY OVERCHARGED for a long time. In talking to some others at Bickford, found they had negotiated lower prices. Seems as if Bickford just picks whatever price they want and if you trust them, as I did, you get taken advantage of. We moved Mom to a different place as I have a real problem with how Bickford does business. Before Mom moved, the magnet on her door which keeps it open came loose making it difficult for her to get in and out with her walker. That was a Friday, Jenny told her it would be fixed on Monday when maintenance came in. We drove in and in 5 minutes had it fixed. Can't believe they would let her struggle and not check it out. Guess that's what happens when you're not going to pay them anymore. Jenny avoided me after telling her Mom was leaving. She conveniently was out buying flowers to plant when we moved Mom. No goodbye, no good luck, nothing. I did check out reviews for Bickford of Moline recently, amazing most of the 5 star reviews are from employees. Unfortunately I feel I have been very cheated. I learned a lot from all of this, hopefully no one else has to learn the hard way. I have a lot of friends with aging parents and I will definitely share my Bickford experience with them.

Now that I am free and clear from Bickford financially I need you all to know the truth about this place. My mother lived at Bickford for 4 years (I should never have let it go on as long as I did after the first few issues) My biggest regret is not moving her out sooner My mom had dementia and moved to Bickford during a stage where she was still independent in many of her activities. She could bathe and change herself, she just needed a lot of reminders and guidance. Before too long mom stopped changing her clothes and bathing. Turns out she was having more trouble and staff was not helping her. They would let her wear the same clothes and unders day after day. I even tried implementing my own tracking system with staff with no success. As things worsened with her condition she needed more and more care and attention and Bickford failed every step of the way. I would find my mom in her filthy clothes with poop under her finger nails. One time she had a BM accident, she ended up stepping in it, tracked it all around the facility; I visited her the next day and found her shoes STILL full of poo She began to fall down but was able to get herself back up, they didnt always know when it would happen - this makes sense But I would find bruises on my mom without any sort of report or knowledge from staff. IF they are helping her change and bathe and everything how did they not know about the bruises. Mom's toilet was leaking for MONTHS. I tried contacting staff multiple times to get it fixed. He floor in her bathroom was all wet. I got a call on a Sunday morning that they had found my mom on her bathroom floor at like 4 in the morning. She seemed ok and they called me around 6/7 to let me know. I get over there around 8am... I find her sitting in the dining room crying, wimpering, and shivering. She sitting in WET COLD socks and pajamas since she was on the bathroom floor hours before!! I went off on staff and will admit I was unprofessional. I demanded the maintenance man come in on his day off to fix the problem. He tried to tell me it was URINE on the floor.... there is a distinct difference between water and urine, it was not urine. And he tried to tell me the toilet was fine. I finally moved her to a new facility and within 2 weeks of being there they tell me she is ready for hospice care.... why didnt Bickford mention this? She died 3 months later. Save yourself the heartache DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. The faces may be friendly and they will tell you what they think you want to hear. But they do not know what they are doing and provide AWFUL care to their dementia patients. Right before we moved her out Bickford LOST A RESIDENT when the whole place is locked down. They found the guy down the street at the car wash (kwqc reported but never mentioned that man's place of residence was BICKFORD - i only recognized him from visits with mom) also upon further reading most of these 5 star reviews are from STAFF MEMBERS of course Nurse Courtney and director Jenny are going to give her work place a 5 when it doesnt even deserve a 1. SHAME on BICKFORD The higher ups associated with the other QC Bickford (located in Davenport) say they will help you... they do not. I even had to go as far as reporting things to the state and the ombudsman... again with no success DO NOT GO TO BICKFORD IF YOU LOVE YOUR PEOPLE

Bob's mother and sister were there three years. The professional staff were amazing. They truly gave Marilyn her best years. And Bob's sister evolved further than we ever imagined she could go. Sadly though, the accounting department plays "shuffle" with their invoicing. They quoted a price, then over billed, then gave credits, then said the credits weren't real, then over billed, on and on for 6 months. We tried to get answers. I finally took all of their statements and put them on a spreadsheet along with bank statements and it illustrated their significant over charges. I am just stating provable facts. After months of their avoidance dealing with the pesky facts, they changed the invoices and sent me >>>REDONE
