We recently moved one of our loved ones into the Benedictine Living Community. Wow! What a nice residence with caring, attentive staff and welcoming neighbors! Thank you to everyone in their various roles who helped our family member feel right at home, from the very beginning!

My sister was here early last year following a prolonged hospitalization in Rochester and they took exceptional care of her while recovered on the Dove unit. She frequently told us how staff treated her like a princess and would always go above and beyond with any request she had. She especially enjoyed the extra mile her social worker Patricia gave to ensure all her needs were met. Our family could not be happier with the staff and facility and would recommend it to anyone - they care and are always willing learn & improve. My sister was able to successfully discharge and leads a happy and productive life thanks in part thanks to the nursing care and therapy she recieved at Benedictine.

Our experience of this place was not good overall. There are some very kind and helpful people that work here, specifically the social worker and lead nurse on the Butterfly wing. However, there were some very medically negligent things that happened as well as illegal. My dad failed to be diagnosed with an infectious disease before arriving at the facility, upon arrival at the facility, and after being there for nearly 2 months. I finally had to diagnose him myself after me and my entire family were infected, as well as many Benedictine staff and residents. The staff at the facility were not informed on how the infection had arrived, but instead were under the impression that my daughter and I had been patient zero, which was NOT THE CASE. We were treated differently by many staff after this because that misconception was not corrected. My father had a growth in his mouth that was cancerous. This growth was not detected until it was so large that half of his tongue had to be removed. Ultimately, my father was not able to recover from that surgery. It was way too big of a surgery for him to be able to recover from at that point, and he passed away as a result of that. Clearly his check ups were not thorough, had he been asked to open his mouth EVEN ONCE prior to this, it would have been detected much sooner. Now onto the illegal acts. Financial director, Vicki Kruize, pulled over $600 out of my fathers bank account without any notice, warning, or approval whatsoever. They started automatic withdrawal for monthly bills, but before enrolling in automatic withdrawals, Vicki had made an error in my father’s billing. Apparently, my father owed more than what he was billed for, but instead of letting us know, Vicki went ahead and pulled that money out of his bank account without permission. When I confronted her about doing this, she in no way acknowledged any wrongdoing and she stated that if she hadn’t pulled the money immediately without permission that my father would have incurred late fees due to not having paid this money prior. This was an error on HER part, and she’s insinuating that my father would have been responsible for some sort of fees incurred because of this error on HER part. Clearly we can all see that it would not have been my fathers responsibility to cover any fees incurred due to an error on HER part, and it is not only illegal to pull money out of someone’s bank account without prior authorization, but she never once acknowledged that she did anything wrong. She never once apologized or showed any sign of understanding that what she did was not OK at any point. So clearly, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

PLZ Do not bring your loved 1s here my mom is passing and while she could still talk she let us know that it takes 25 to 30 minutes to get help on and off the toilet that's 25 to 30 minutes on and off the toilet we asked for meds to manage her pain was told a few hours only to have to remind them again and wait another 40 minutes just for someone to show up and say I'll let the nurse know this place is a joke. ILL LET THE NURSE KNOW. ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATING can't imagine the care here for individuals with no family to speak up for them...so I found out at least 75 percent of the staff or traveling nurses wich now makes sense as to why they don't care. The saving grace of this whole experience was the hospice nurses and they themselves aren't employed by this facility. Ms T you need to make some serious changes for the sake of your residents and the families who trust you with their care
