Overview
Benedictine Living Community-St. Joseph is a senior retirement continuum of care community. The non-profit community offers 49 independent living apartments, 32 assisted living residences, 96 skilled nursing and long term care beds and rehabilitation therapies. Benedictine Living Community-St. Joseph is owned and operated by Benedictine and sponsored by the Sisters of St. Scholastica of Duluth, MN.

Life Plan/CCRCs
Also referred to as Life Plan Communities, these communities offer a comprehensive continuum of care for residents. CCRCs offer multiple levels of care, allowing seniors to transition between independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care as their needs change throughout their aging journey.
Senior Apartments
Senior apartments are designed for older adults, featuring amenities and services. These apartments offer a maintenance-free lifestyle with access to social activities, promoting active living and independence.
Respite Care
Respite care is short-term or temporary care. Respite care can be provided in adult day centers, in private homes via home health agencies and in senior living communities, most often assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.

Living Community fell on hard times several years ago when most of the long time management team retired. My husband has now been there for 10 days of rehab on skilled nursing, and I am pleased to report that it’s been a very positive experience. The therapy is wonderful, as it always has been, and the nursing care, for the most part has been very good. And the food is excellent. It seems now to have regained its groove 😊.

Thank you to the staff at Benedictine Living Community St Joseph. My in-laws moved into independent living five years ago. They have made a number of visits to skilled care, including hospice. Special thanks for handling those tough times. Now we’ve just finished moving my mother in-law to her new assisted living apartment. All of these journeys have been under one roof at Benedictine Living Community. The staff have been friendly and very supportive. Every smile helps. Thanks!

Friendly staff and clean facility! Always have lots of activities for their residents! Both of my parents enjoy living there. They recently had a Mother's Day tea and my sister and I celebrated with our mom. A good time was had by all!

My mom has been a long term resident of Living Community for over 3 years. She has received excellent care. They really know her and a lot of times have implemented care changes before we even ask. We are very involved in her care and visit often and could not be happier with Living Community.
