Beachwood Commons by New Perspective

My mother has been a resident since October. We thought this would be a good fit for her. Boy were we wrong. She has fallen numerous times and Beachwood Commons didn’t even call us to let us know during a few of those falls. She is supposed to get 2 showers a week and many times just 1 or none at all . Her laundry is supposed to be done once a week and many times not done at all. The staff is supposed to pick her up and wheel her down for meals - every meal - every day ! When I visit - I bring her meals ((just in case) and I am glad I did as they did not come to get her for a meal - I guess she won’t eat ? We have spoken to the director probably once a week to get these issues resolved. Horrible that an elderly woman is treated like this ! I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone!

A group of students just volunteered here with the activities and he had a fun time! The residents were sweet and enjoyed trivia, painting pinecones, and visiting with us. Shamika does a great job planning activities and it was an easy process to be able to volunteer here!

This 5 * review is mainly for Shamika, the activities director, at Beachwood Commons. She is the BEST part of Beachwood Commons!!! She truly cares about the residents. She plans activities that are fun, entertaining, interactive, and appeal to many. She is a vibrant, fun, kind, caring person who calls everyone by their name. You can tell she has a healthcare background by her caring, empathetic, patient and humane approach to the residents. She speaks to them, hears them, interacts with them, and makes them feel special. When my mom first moved in, we were lost. She was one of the first people that stopped by her “apartment” to welcome her and explain how the activities portion of her stay, worked. She then became our go to with the many questions we had (sorry Shamika!!). She answered so many of our questions, and gave us the names of those who could help us in specific areas/with specific requests. If we asked her something, she helped or told us she would find out, and actually followed through; not the usual “we don’t know….we’ll look into it,” and then radio silence. Beachwood Commons, we hope you know what a treasure you have in Shamika, and keep her around for a long time! She truly is one in a million (we love you Shamika)!!

Beachwood Commons is the best place in the Cuyahoga county. They not only gives you a excellent accommodations but food is restaurant quality. The help is very very loving and kind makes you feel like it's a family here. The housekeeper is so sweet and helpful. The activities director is a lot of fun and very tentative to your needs. Chef K and the cook Zoe are experienced in the restaurant business. The food is excellent. All my guests says this is great food. The med passers are very friendly and professional. The Executive Director Ashley is always caring and concern for us residence. Dajuan our maintenance help takes care of our needs. Unless I need a nursing home this is the home that I will stay at.
