The transitional time from independent to assisted living for the individual and their family is a difficult period. I toured four different memory care communities in Tallahassee and almost immediately knew Azalea Gardens would be the most comfortable place for my dad. My dad is more independent than many other residents at Azalea but he is not capable of caring for himself anymore and needs to be in an assisted living environment. Heather welcomed me on my initial tour of the community and it was apparent this would be the most accommodating environment for our dad. She provided transparent information for pricing, social activity and nursing care that provided all the information I needed for making my final decision. A big factor was Azalea is the only facility with full nursing licensing so when our dad will never have to be moved to another facility when his care needs change. The entire staff at Azalea shows an incredible amount of compassion that I witness every time I visit dad. Azalea Gardens is a smaller community with only about 50 residents. From my experience it seems every employee knows each resident by name and personality. I met each director before moving dad in and every director is directly involved in the day to day care for the residents. Their staff shows a level of professional care that gives me confidence in their ability to take care of my dad and his changing needs. They really do take the time to help my dad be comfortable. I see that there is a steady presence of staff while at the same time, someone like my dad whose more independent, has personal space to himself. Toni is the events director and she seems to always be there at Azalea involving residents or inviting residents to be involved in everything available to break up their day. Again, compassion, is the leading trait here that I witness every time I am at Azalea visiting. Nurse Jane is always assisting someone and still takes the time for individual care for everyone there. I have joined my dad twice now for lunch and chef Scarlett and her staff make great food that my dad looks forward to each meal. For my dad, Azalea Gardens is the best place for him. I hope this review helps others with the big decision of finding their loved one the right place for them.

My Dad was a resident at Azalea Gardens in Tallahassee for the final 6 months of his life before passing away at almost 90. During that time he received the most amazing and loving care from every member of the staff - they knew his habits and personality and went over and above in providing care - truly caring, not just support. They also knew and immediately recognized every member of our family that visited. We visited from out of town continually but still sometimes with weeks between visits, and the entire staff knew us when we walked in - even with masks! Azalea Gardens is truly committed to resident care and safety (great Covid controls) and they provide the best care I have ever seen. Thank you again to Heather Frost and the entire staff for their loving care for Dad - my brother and I and Dad's entire extended family are eternally grateful.
