If I could give negative stars, I would. My father in law passed away in his apartment and was left to decompose for AT LEAST FIVE DAYS before the management checked on the odor and called the police and funeral home. The funeral director was horrified and said the staff is "awful" and that he saw residents had written notes and taped them to the walls of the hallways saying "this place smells!" as he went to the 3rd floor to collect the body. We drove straight through from several states away to get there to take care of his belongings and the manager, Adam, tried to say he'd seen our relative more recently, then changed his story when confronted with the professional opinion of the mortician. We could smell the stench of death as we walked into the large facility and those poor other residents had to live with that for nearly a week! Adam actually said, when greeting us, "do you know what you're walking into?" Then just gave us the key without accompanying us. When we got to the room, the only thing they had done was cut out the carpet where he had died and put bio-fans in to move the air. My husband and I had to work two days in that "ground zero" apartment wearing hazmat suits and masks (that we had to purchase) in order to grab just basic paperwork and search through his belongings to be sure we had everything. No staff or management ever checked on us to see if we needed anything or offer condolences. Just told us to leave the key when we were done. 99% of my father-in-laws belongings, personal effects and memory items that had been dear to my husband had to be left behind to be disposed of because of the permeating foul odor. Can you imagine the pure hell that was to be breathing in the stench of our loved ones ignored dead body??? We will be reporting this facility to the proper authorities in Florida. They DO NOT CARE about the residents, they do not care about the families and they try to cover up their insufficiencies. I wouldn't leave my worst enemy is this place. Don't let your loved ones stay here, for God's sake! And if they are there, move them out to a properly managed facility asap!

May 1st, my chorus performed for the residents. Since then there is new management at The Atrium and they have yet to pay us for our performance. We've sent several copies of our invoice. I even hand-delivered one to them but still, no payment. It's quite disappointing and makes me less inclined to want to go back, even though the residents have enjoyed our previous performances there.

The residents have been without internet for 6 weeks and they are still charging their residents for it! Additionally, there is very poor cell service in the area, so residents have to leave the building to make/receive calls or use a "courtesy phone". Rent is also supposed to include a Lively device (basically a Life Alert). My relative who resides there had their Lively device stop working almost immediately after moving in. It has been over two months and it still has not been repaired or replaced. Since they have been without it, they had a fall where they were injured. I cannot in good conscience recommend The Atrium.

Still no Internet after 2 months - management on-site have no ideal when this will be fixed. Every two weeks the residents are told it will be fixed in two weeks. Adam, why cant you state, in writing, a date when the internet will be fixed? It seems that you are hiding the truth and have no plans yet Many of the elderly depend on cell phones for communication with family, doctors and friends. Is the Truth that hard?
