Overview

“As soon as we walked into Aspen Ridge it immediately felt like home. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful and were all very knowledgeable. My wife’s father has been living there for over a year now and he seems as happy as he has been in a long time!”

In spring '22, when we moved my mom into their independent care apartments, things started out ok, except the food was subpar. It was clear that things were due for an update/refresh but it was clean, staff was friendly and had option for moving into assisted care when needed. A year later, food was even worse, staff was turning over faster, cleaning apartments and the building was sporadic and took me complaining to get it cleaned, the hall carpet literally crackled as you walked through. Another year later staff turnover was crazy, including the director (left or fired?), a couple of times it was all hands on deck to make meals because kitchen staff didn't show. A remodel of common areas was 5+ months before completion in fall '24, but in interim these areas remained dirty and dusty. I finally brought my vacuum to clean my mom's apartment and even did her entire hallway! This fall mom was at point of needing assisted care and by then I'd heard too many staffing complaints to remotely consider keeping her there, so we moved her. It was only after leaving we learned the dementia care unit across the street had a woman die from heatstroke (Aug '24) due to staffing shortages and/or neglect. Her new place has opened my eyes to the differences of a well-run community. Until Aspen Ridge has proven they are well-run again, do not buy into any hype of changes to come or be swayed by a fresh new interior.

New ownership...high staff turnover and poor training. Food is not good...few choices..lots of pork and gravy. Not much fresh fruits and vegetables. New paint job, carpet and art....but that doesn't matter if other things are bad. Please don't put your parents there.

My experience at Aspen Ridge Retirement was cheerful and warm. The staff were so welcoming when I arrived and I witnessed really genuine connection and care between staff and residents on my visit. I got to sit in on a "Welcoming Committee," activity and got to see their SPARK program in action. I loved the way the Lifestyle Director encouraged the residents to be such valued members of their community. It was great to see them planning for new residents coming into the community with gifts and tours lined up for their new neighbors. One of the things that stood out the most was dining service. They have an awesome selection of beverages and a salad bar that was beautiful and full. It was definitely a focal point and a "grand" area in their community. I was able to have lunch there and the food was great! My chicken was tender and seasoned well. Lots of flavor on this dish! Our seniors deserve great food and great service!
