My family and I love American House. We moved 2 loved ones in who were at other communities in the area, both have been happy and well cared for and we are thrilled knowing they are taken care of. This establishment is not meant for anyone with health issues that require assistance or mobility needs. This facility is very overrated based on the overall sales tactic at the beginning verses what the patient actually receives in the end. From the outside the place looks fantastic. What the patient receives is very little care, almost none. My dad had a massive stroke during his time at American House/ the staffs response was that they felt he looked “depressed”. My mother found him and knew to call 911. The staff is untrained in the medical field. They are hourly workers — they all speak their own language, especially the night staff. My father’s room was often kept uncleanly, and the staff would be told, and it still was not cleaned. I would not use this facility for anyone who has problems with being mobile or any medical issues. It is just a place to live if you’re elderly. Any questions ever asked nobody would know or they would say it wasn’t their job. My dad attempted you use the drive service offered at the facility and he was never picked up from dialysis. I had to drive 35 minutes to pick him up at 8pm. I also included a picture. The phones were never answered at the front desk and it was difficult to get in touch with my father. This is not a place if you would like to know what is happening to your family member. We never were notified for anything even when he was picked up by paramedics. Below is a picture of my dad’s arm after the nurse ripped his bandage off. Anyone would know to not rip off a bandage from a patient that is diabetic with sensitive skin that does not heal well. Very sad I put my dad through this. This was my idea and I will feel awful the rest of my life for sending him there. Please do not send your loved one here.
