My mother in law has been there since February. It is a beautiful place. So clean and well kept. They have so many things going on to keep the residents busy. She loves it and is being well taken care of. She is in assisted living there. I highly recommend it.

I had a great experience during my visit. The place was very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and everyone made me feel welcome. It was great to see the residents happy and enjoying their community. I would definitely recommend this place!

If you’re considering this assisted living facility, I strongly encourage you to look at other options first. My mother, who has Alzheimer’s disease, was a resident there, and our experience was heartbreaking. We were assured that she would be safe, cared for, and treated with compassion, but that was not what we experienced. The most frightening incident was when she was able to leave the property without anyone realizing she was gone. I found her walking down the street toward a busy highway, alone and confused. She had been gone for about 40 minutes in approximately 95-degree heat. That situation could have ended in tragedy, whether from being struck by a vehicle, suffering heat-related illness, or becoming even more disoriented. That should never happen in a facility caring for people with memory loss. Our family’s experience with management was just as disappointing. The nursing director was disrespectful and difficult to work with, and Chris, the facility’s director, also crossed professional boundaries in the way she handled our family’s situation. Instead of communicating with the family members who were actively involved in my mother’s care, they chose to communicate primarily with my older brother, who lived out of state and was less involved. We felt our concerns were dismissed, boundaries were crossed, and our voices were not heard when we were simply trying to advocate for our mother. We were also pressured to consider anxiety medication to make my mother more subdued, and I strongly disagreed. I wanted her to be treated with compassion and appropriate care—not simply medicated to make managing her easier. After only eight days, we removed my mother from the facility because we no longer felt she was safe there. We paid more than $12,000 out of pocket for that brief stay, yet instead of showing concern or accountability after such a serious incident, the focus seemed to remain on billing. We found the staff’s response to be dismissive and lacking empathy at a time when our family was frightened and looking for support. I would not recommend this facility to anyone with a loved one who needs assisted living or memory care. Please do your research, visit multiple communities, and ask difficult questions before trusting a facility with someone you love. In our experience, this facility did not provide the safety, compassion, or care that was promised.

I moved my mother (with mild alzheimer's) from her home into Independent Living about 14 months ago. Unfortunately, her cognitive decline accelerated to the point that she needed to be moved to Assisted Living (and potentially Memory Care in the future). The transition to the Alamar was challenging because of my mom's cognitive decline, but the staff assured me she would settle in. It's been just over 3 months and I'm very pleased with the move. The Alamar has an incredible program called Folio for residents with memory issues that are not in Memory Care. The program is run by Simone, who is literally a force for good!! Simone makes sure my mom (and the others in the program) spend their days engaged in meaninful activities. I get text messages from Simone with pictures and updates almost every day. My mom is exercising, painting, going for long walks, playing brain games, enjoying happy hour, participating in themed parties, and going on monthly outings to restaurants. I call Simone the Alzheimer's Whisperer!! She took the time to get to know my mom (and asked for my input), so she gets my mom to participate in all of the activities. I mean this in the absolute best way, Simone does not take NO for an answer!!! The staff has been responsive and pro-active when necessary and the facility is lovely and well maintained. Sheril, who runs the salon makes sure my mom gets a hair wash at least once a week and a color once a month. Mom was reluctant to go to the salon at first, but Sheril stuck with it, and now mom goes willingly and happily :) I'm managing my mother's care from a distance, which has it's challenges, but I feel very confident my mother is in the best possible place for her needs. My brother, aunt, mom's friends, and I have all popped in unannounced. My mom has been clean, often engaged in an activity, and appears to be content. Alzeimer's is the WORST. I wouldn't wish it on any family. My family is so grateful to the Alamar staff and for the incredible Folio program.
