It’s hard to put into words how thankful we are for the incredible team at Morning Star memory care unit. Placing a loved one in memory care is never an easy decision but the staff are very comforting The staff there is nothing short of amazing. They don’t just provide care—they build real connections. Whether it’s the way they greet residents with a warm smile, the patience they show during challenging moments, or the joy they bring through daily activities, every interaction is filled with compassion and genuine kindness. One moment that really stood out: a staff member noticed that one of my patients loved one seemed restless and sat with them, holding their hand and gently talking about memories from the past. It brought calm, comfort, and even a smile. That’s the kind of care you can’t teach—it comes from the heart. Kudos to Bernadette for overseeing this unit. The communication with families has been excellent. We’re always kept in the loop, and we feel like part of the team rather than outsiders. It’s clear the staff truly care not just for the residents, but for the families too. Thank you to the entire memory care staff for treating our patients loved one with dignity, love, and respect. You’ve made an overwhelming journey feel lighter, and we are so grateful for your unwavering support.

I have so many positive things to share about MorningStar West San Jose. When I first walked into the facility, I was amazed—it felt more like a modern five-star hotel than a senior home. Ling, the customer coordinator, is not only fluent in both English and Mandarin but also incredibly friendly and professional. She gave us a thorough tour of the entire facility, including the garden, dining hall, and activity room, and introduced us to the wonderful staff. At the time, my mother, who has Alzheimer’s, was living in another senior home in the East Bay. The thought of moving her seemed overwhelming and was honestly never on my mind. However, after Ling’s detailed tour and introduction, we were completely sold on the place and decided to move forward without hesitation. Ling was always there to offer support and advice, even when she was busy. Her dedication to helping me with any concerns or questions was invaluable. Bernadette, the coordinator at the memory care unit, is incredibly responsible and attentive to every detail. I can tell my mom is in great hands with her care. It’s hard to believe my mom has been there for almost half a year now. Each time I visit, I’m still impressed by the bright, welcoming activity room and the warm, friendly staff. My mom seems enjoy the healthy meals and snacks offered daily. With the variety of activities provided, she’s also made new friends among the other residents. They dine together, exercise, draw, create crafts, and watch movies — activities that I believe have positively influenced her well-being. I recommend MorningStar West San Jose to anyone looking for a place for their loved one. It’s a facility that truly goes above and beyond. I also hope to see MorningStar expand and build more senior homes like this throughout Silicon Valley.

I took my former high school teacher (95 years old) and visited 7 assisted living facilities. The last one we visited is Morning Star at West San Jose. Ling gave us the tour and took us to see different units. She speaks Chinese and English fluently. She is warm, friendly, and introduces us to staffs and residents in the common areas (living room, activity area, court yard, and hallway). The atmosphere is very friendly and lively: Some residents use walkers or have some physical limitations; but they are friendly, talking with us, and highly complement Ling. It provides a sense of living community, as the name said- senior living. Residents in other assisted living facilities hardly talked with us and gave us the sense of doom. The facility is modern, new, and designed with seniors in mind. It’s pleasant and pretty, but not fancy. It doesn’t require residents to walk much to go to dining room and activity areas. My high school teacher wanted to put deposit the next day to make sure that he can move in. This facility not only provides three nutrition-balanced meals with choices, but also provides 24/7 snacks and drinks. Smart! We had steamed dumplings, salmon, and broccoli for lunch, which are delicious, not salty or greasy. We met several Chinese residents. Hope they will provide more Chinese food in the near future.

What a wonderful new assisted living facility in our community! I have visited many times with my aging mother. The dining facilities, food, outdoor common areas both on the ground floor and rooftop as well as all the activities from movies to daily exercise classes are all super appealing. The staff all help to make it a warm and welcoming place. Ling, who's takes care of all Community Relations does an amazing job creating a welcoming environment for those evaluating the facility.
