Overview
“Laurel Glen at Stephenville is wonderful. My father is all settled in. The food is good, the staff is friendly and caring… and they have a beautiful courtyard.”

I’m so impressed with Laurel Glen. There is a spirit of happiness among community members and the staff that is heartwarming. Great food, friendly neighbors, cute apartments and lots of activities too!

Although the building is esthetically pleasing, the management of this facility leaves a lot to be desired. Emails go unanswered, calls are not returned, family members are blatantly misled and completely disrespected. The residents in Memory Care are not given the same opportunities for social interaction, activities, or meals services. Staff turnover is high due to the workload assigned and the toxic work environment created by the management, specifically the Executive Director and Activities Director. When reading other reviews of the facility, be aware that many are written by employees of Laurel Glen!

We are looking into finding “a place for Mom”. Laurel Glen had such a nice, welcoming, warm and peaceful atmosphere. Perfect!! These big life decisions are not always easy, but LG made it easy! Answered questions I didn’t even know I had. 5 stars here!

My mother initially lived in Assisted Living at Laurel Glen, quickly moved to Memory Care in order to keep her safe. We were very pleased with the facility initially but over time they have been a disappointment. My mother had a private room in memory care with her own bathroom. On two different occasions I found dried feces on the floor of the bathroom, which I cleaned up. The resident rooms have trash emptied but that is the extent of housekeeping. There is no housekeeping that comes in and cleans the resident rooms and bathrooms. My mother escaped out of memory care to the outside 6 times during the month of May this year; each time the staff was required to call me. For several weeks the door in memory care was broken. The director Claudia asked the staff to call me to come sit with my mom or take her until the door was repaired. If your loved one wanders or exit seeking this facility is not the place to live. Memory care has an enclosed patio but the door to the patio is locked, so these residents do not have the option to go outside and enjoy sunshine. During the initial tour we were told there would be a doctor on call to handle emergencies on the weekends and evenings. We learned this was not the case. There is a doctor on call for the company, but this doctor is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and they do not contact this doctor to help the residents in the facility here. I asked for staff to begin assisting my mother to bathroom. The nurse/director did an assessment on my mom and informed me that this assistance will increase the price by almost $500/month in addition to the $5300/monthly cost. Laurel Glen is owned by Frontier Management and I will steer clear of using a Frontier Management facility again. This is a company that is focused on money, not about providing excellent care and service. I don't believe they properly train their employees to handle dementia residents. I received many, many phone calls and text messages from the caregivers asking for help with my mom, many times asking if I could come to the facility to help with my mother. Frontier Management allows the facility to be understaffed, and inadequate training for dementia patients. I believe the caregivers and Med Techs work very hard, and care about the residents. The Med Techs were wonderful, and very patient with the residents.
