My mother came to Brookdale Santa Fe on August 14 2024. She was previously at Legacy at Santa Fe in the Memory Care Section(Connections). She had fallen 12 times in 4 months, between April of 2024 and August 14, 2024 while her stay at Legacy at SF. I was contacted by phone by the ED from Legacy at SF, telling me that my mom needed to be at a Skilled Nursing Facility. I contacted Brookdale Santa Fe, spoke to Janet Garcia and I preceded to tell her what was told to me by the ED at Legacy at SF. Janet Garcia then spoke to her ED Pam Plaza about my situation. An assessment was done on my mother. August 14, 2024, my mother became a resident at Brookdale SF til her passing on September 5, 2024. Brookdale SF took her off the medications that she was on at Legacy at SF. She never had a fall at Brookdale SF, and she loved it and would often say what a beautiful facility it was. The Staff was amazing with her. My only regret, is that I should have moved her to Brookdale SF from day one. Janet Garcia and ED Pam Plaza, would check on my mom and the other residents all the time. That wasn’t the case at Legacy at SF. I highly recommend Brookdale Santa Fe, best decision you could ever make! Thank you, Brookdale Santa Fe!!

I moved my mother from France to Santa Fe and her year at Brookdale was amazing. She immediately felt "she belonged" and made so many friends there. It feels like a big family .💖 The staff is incredibly friendly and I am so pleased by the level of love and care my mama received at Brookdale. Bravo Brookdale !

Mom moved into the assisted living portion in December 2021. We visit almost every day so have gotten to know the staff and day-to-day energy well. First let’s get the bad out of the way - the food is not very good. At mom’s former assisted living situation (on the east coast), the food and food service was so good it became a social lynchpin for the residents. Three stars. Also, the apartments are dated. For someone wheelchair bound, narrow doorways make navigation around the apartment difficult and the kitchen is largely unusable because of the narrow entrance. Two stars. Now the good, which in our opinion, far outweighs the food and apartment issues. The care staff is really amazing. Responsive, compassionate, they work as a team, work closely with mom’s primary care physician (who visits almost weekly). We've made numerous special requests to help mom’s transition and each time they’ve agreed and followed through. For example, we asked if it would be possible to have some grief counseling and within two weeks, Brookdale Santa Fe organized a weekly group session with a wonderful counselor. Five stars. We have also found “corporate” Brookdale very easy to work with. For example, mom loves our dog but since COVID there was a blanket no dog policy in effect. At the suggestion of the front desk staff, we called corporate and they were very happy to make a compassionate exception and we can now bring our dog in the interest of helping mom transition. Five stars. Net: net - many facilities say they treat each resident as an individual but we can say that Brookdale Santa Fe really follows through on that promise where it counts the most.

Please do not make the mistake of placing your loved one in a Brookdale facility. Their business model is predicated on paying staff the lowest wages (lower than fast food), gouge residents of everything they have worked hard for in their lives, cut expenses to the bone, limit care, non-comply with ADA, then tell you need to hire a private caregiver to fill gaps in their "care plans". They lie about staffing levels. Profits to shareholders, vs ethical care to seniors is their core mission.
