Fitting in at a Senior Living Community

Greg and Jane Zimmerman, Senior Living Residents: “Would I feel like I fit in? Would we make friends? But I’m telling you, the minute we sat down to dinner with people and started talking, the mask of age just went away.”

Joyce Kuchar, Senior Living Resident: “Some of my friends said ‘Go for it. Oh wow. Brand new place’ or whatever. Yeah, Yeah, you know. Other friends, ‘Boy, Joyce, you know. You better be sure’, so here I am in limbo. I don’t know which way to turn.”

Greg and Jane Zimmerman, Senior Living Residents: “The community living is so rich and I had no clue. I think that’s why people say, ‘I should have moved in sooner.’ Most people will say that. Why did I wait so long?”

Gertrude Kellog, Senior Living Resident: “Even if they don’t know you or they’re not real familiar with you, it’s always ‘Have a good evening’ when you leaving the dining room. You know, it doesn’t have to be a big, big thing, but at least there’s some bit of communication.”

Joyce Kuchar, Senior Living Resident: “I don’t feel alone no more, you know. There’s a lot of activities here. And it’s very secure. It’s a real extra good feeling. And I advise people I meet, you know? Because as you get older, there are fears that build up in you.”

Gertrude Kellog, Senior Living Resident: “So I’m happier now that I’m in my own apartment. I had a big eight room house.” (laughs)

Greg and Jane Zimmerman, Senior Living Residents: “The community living is so rich and I had no clue. I think that’s why people say, ‘I should have moved in sooner.’ Most people will say that. Why did I wait so long? Everybody is connected. It’s so active. It’s so vibrant a community that, gosh, it’s like, whoa! The first week we moved in here, I felt right at home. (Greg) Took him about 24 hours. Took me a little longer.”

Joyce Kuchar, Senior Living Resident: “Where you live matters!”
